Namibia, Botswana & Zimbabwe are fascinating travel destinations all year round. Find your preferred travel time across the different seasons below.
December, January, February, March, April
High chance of rain, with daytime temperatures above 34°C. Showers can be local, heavy but short, often only in the afternoon, after which temperatures drop briefly and the air smells wonderfully of rain. Nature awakens, grass grows and the bush turns delicate green. Animals find water in the bush, so they depend less on water troughs — and the dense bush can make wildlife harder to spot.
May, June, July, August
The perfect time for wildlife viewing! Wild and farm animals depend on provided water sources, and in Etosha you can see large herds quenching their thirst. Midday temperatures usually reach 25°C; nights can bring frost, and early mornings and late afternoons are often below 10°C. Depending on the rains, dry grass stands tall and the bush is green and dense.
September, October, November
Spring in Namibia! Bushes and trees bloom in a beautiful variety of colours across the dry landscape. Temperatures reach over 30°C and nights grow warmer. The coast, however, is often much cooler than the interior due to the cold Benguela Current and the strong, cool south-westerly wind — often just 14°C or less. Always pack warm clothing!
